Primary Function

Wor-Wic Community College is accepting applications for a vice president for student affairs to serve as a key member of the College's executive leadership team; provide strategic leadership to deliver responsive, equity and student-centered services and programs that serve our diverse local communities; oversee the student affairs department, including critical functions aimed at enhancing student enrollment, development and success; and advance the college's strategic goals and priorities and fulfillment of its mission.

Essential Duties

The following list is not intended as, nor should it be construed as, exhaustive of all responsibilities, skills or working conditions associated with this position.

  • Shapes an engaging student experience by directing a range of student-centered support services and leadership development initiatives; provides leadership of Student Affairs, including planning, promoting and assessing student support services; developing and maintaining the integrity of student information; recommending college policy and procedures; coordinating interdepartmental and college-wide student support services initiatives; and coordinating, scheduling, supervising and evaluating all student services personnel
  • Collaborates with academic leadership and other campus departments to ensure integration of curricular and co-curricular support services, enhancing student retention, persistence and achievement
  • Focuses on fostering belonging and institutional pride and responding to student needs; directs program development for student engagement and retention; and champions data-driven approaches to continuously improve the student experience
  • Provides executive oversight to college-wide initiatives, leading projects to enhance enrollment, student success, and service excellence; and drives continuous improvement through data-informed decision-making, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation
  • Provides effective intervention and resolution for students facing barriers to their success, serves as a member of the Crisis Management Team, and is responsible for student outreach, follow-up and support surrounding student-related crises
  • Ensures areas of responsibility operate effectively within the policies and procedures of the College and applicable governing agencies as well as state and federal laws
  • Prepares and administers grants aligned with strategic planning goals
  • Plans, develops and administers the annual budgets for functional areas within the Student Affairs division, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with strategic priorities
  • Serves as a strategic thought partner with the President and members of the executive leadership team, collaborating closely to provide strategic leadership in college-wide operations and equity-centered strategic goal implementation
  • Advocates for enrollment management and student services initiatives and builds relationships internally and externally that benefit these initiatives and the college
  • Participates in special projects that benefit the college or that respond to external constituent requests
  • Participates in professional development, affinity groups and community service that reflects positively on the college
  • Provides leadership in planning and decision-making based on data, institutional research and awareness of emerging technologies and trends
  • Manages and/or contributes to the annual and five-year comprehensive department assessment process
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Requirements

 

  • Master's degree
  • Seven years of increasing responsibility as a student services professional in at least one of the areas represented in the college's student affairs division, including professional and support staff supervision
  • Demonstrated proficiency with advocating for and implementing diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives
  • Budget development and administration experience
  • Strong capacity to negotiate conflict
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, computer, organizational, human relations and Microsoft Office skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Preference will be given to candidates who possess:
    • A doctoral degree
    • Experience overseeing institutional enrollment management
